There was not so long ago, the styling of the cars produced by Hyundai wanting. Lines were anonymous silhouette more or less successful and nobody bought these cars for their beauty. What state has the shortest coastline of any in the US? That would be New Hampshire, with a tiny 13 mile strip of exposure to the Atlantic Ocean to call its own. On a picture perfect summer evening, we snaked our way from cheesy Hampton, boasting gorgeous beaches and surf  (think New Jersey Shore, but its in New England) to our digs in Portsmouth, a chic small city which many affectionately call a Boston in miniature. I might disagree, as I find Portsmouth has a character unique to itself. Shes an old port city loaded with charm and charisma.

But I digress. Our car for the trip was an Infiniti G37S four door, bestowed with a six-speed manual. On our trip back to Portsmouth, ocean on our right, with mansions costing millions of dollars on our left, the sights were breathtaking. With windows down, and sunroof open, the music of Jimmy Buffet lecting our relaxed demeanor, the Infiniti proved to be a fantastic end of summer vacation car.

Yet, soon our road diverged from the coast, where we came upon Brit Bits, a seller and restorer of British cars in Rye, New Hampshire. If I see a row of British sports cars, I must stop, and I did. What a treasure trove of Brit cars. Plenty of MGBs, Midgets (one had a hardtop with portholes, ala T-Bird), a well worn Jag E-Type, a Morris Minor my wife was smitten with, in addition to other beloved cars in various states of repair. The famous sports car brand, Porsche showed up with its new Panamera PS9 at the Essen Motor Show. The German tuning house releases some of its images of that motor show where the Porsche can be seen embedded with its sports package that bundles aerodynamic add-ons with some performance upgrades and four different power kits for the turbo model.

As usual, the PS9 aerokit includes a front spoiler with an integrated brake cooling system with rigid side skirts, engine hood air vents, air outlets coming through the rear bumper, a fixed rear spoiler and a rear diffuser that houses a twin tail pipes. Thats not it. Its a complete package deal. You also get a set of 22 inch alloy wheels along with high performance tires of 265/35 and 305/25 ZR22


Coming to the new Porsches interior, the steerings covered with leather, pedals of two sizes which are 340 and 365 mm are F1-shift type. You have a choice of selecting the pedals in wood, aluminium or carbon fiber. Door panels and seats are stitched with color threads, exclusive floor mats and carbon fiber decorative trim available in various shades.

The new Porsche Panamera PS9 has an upgraded turbo chargers,sports air filter, sports exhaust system and an effecient ECU. All these upgrades really pimps out the car and results in increased horsepower of 600 to 650 and produces an immense torque of 890 Nm. The new Panamera has an ability of boosting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 305 secs. The manufacturers have not only concentrated on the speed and acceleration. In order to bring a fast moving to a halt, sure require some extra ordinary brakes system. So an upgraded brakes system has been installed with modular 380 mm and 6 piston brake callipers.

Nevertheless, these difficulties havent stopped new entrants from seeking time in the limelight, like Malta-based Silex Power, which is a green-energy company that has been involved in a number of projects, including photovoltaic plants, hydroelectric and wind farms, with offices in Italy, France, China and the UK.
Their automotive project is named the Chreos, and its a large limousine that measures 5.42 meters (213.4 inches) in length.
"I would like to present to your team our new creation, a concept that we are looking to bring into production over the next 3 years," the CEO of the company Johnaton Grech, told CarScoop in an email. "It is an extremely powerful and fast electric vehicle, sporting 640bhp power, 4400Nm torque (There is no extra 0), 1000km range and an innovative recharging time of less than 10 minutes."
At this stage, the Chreos has been imagined to be powered by four in-wheel electric motors that in theory, will allow it to complete the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint in 2.9 seconds, reach 200km/h (124mph) in "less than 6 seconds" and top out at 300km/h (186mph). Were also told that the electric limousine will tip the scales at around 2,200 kg (4,850 pounds).
Depending on how you look at it, those performance numbers are either extremely impressive or overly ambitious…

What a ride its been at Chrysler these past few years. Neglected by parent Daimler and subsequent owner Cerberus, Chrysler was on the brink of collapse and on their knees in front of the US Congress begging for a bailout. Ironically, Fiat, a company who fled the US in the early 1980s turned out to be Chryslers savior. And so far, the results have been encouraging. The bottom-feeder Dodge Avenger has been enormously improved. SRT is reviving the almighty Viper. The highly anticipated Dodge Dart with full Alfa Romeo DNA intact will be hitting showrooms soon.

There is no question that Chrysler had a myriad of problems, and it appears that Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is still at work at revamping the beleaguered company. According to a post from Autoblog, Marchionne confirmed the Jeep Compass will be killed off in 2014.  In spite of its 2011 redesign which modeled itself after the Grand Cherokee, Jeeps attempt at targeting young urban types-especially females appears to have fizzled. The more successful Patriot, which shares the same mechanicals to the Compass has sold far better, with more traditional Jeep styling, but it is unclear what the future of the Patriot is. Still, these cars are dinosaurs, based on the now extinct Dodge Caliber which was mercifully let go in favor of the upcoming Dart.

The next casualty is the Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The Dodge Grand Caravan remains, which makes sense since the Caravan was the first minivan. Ever. Kudos to Sergio Marchionne for telling Chrysler it makes no sense selling the exact same car under two brands. Brand engineering is what nearly ruined the American auto industry, so killing off the Town & Country makes perfect sense to me.

In other related news, it appears there will be an SRT high performance version of the Dodge Dart that will sit above the Dart R/T. No word yet on what will sit under the hood. In sum, I find the news from Chrysler encouraging as failing and redundant cars are cut off, and under the control of Fiat they definitely appear to be a more focused company. The future looks bright.

At the Los Angeles Auto Show 2012 is now celebrated the new Porsche Cayman had its world premiere. From March 2013 he is in the trade.


The 2013 new Porsche Cayman was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2012 and now shows more original than its predecessor. It is lighter, flatter and more agile and should thus still offer greater driving pleasure.

Nissan releases black edition of its world famous GT-R. This ones a really pimped one and you dont see this epicoften on the street. The new Nissan GT-R Black Edition is so rare that the entire Europe has to content with only 480 units.

The new GT-R has been modified with an impressive Engine Control Unit ( ECU ) and a new special exhaust pipe.However 2 cats and middle silencer has been removed. These modifications help the GT-R to achieve a massive horse power of 580bhp and produces an impressive 700 Nm torque.

The new Nissan GT-R Black Editions body kit has been aggressively designed giving it a whole new hot look and one can feel the rage and power inside the machine by just observing the exterior.

How many sports cars can one automotive group offer? Just ask the people at Volkswagen, whose various divisions – Lamborghini, Bugatti, Porsche, Audi – churn them out like you and I would write Christmas cards. (Or Hannukah cards, anyway.) And the Fiat group is right behind their German counterparts, with Ferrari and Maserati keeping the upper crust of the market satisfied, and now Alfa Romeo and Abarth filling a more accessible – but potentially no less exciting – niche.

Recently we brought you a progress update on the Alfa Romeo 4C, a concept mid-engine sports car thats now apparently been green-lit for production. In the ruminations of its potential roadworthiness, there was speculation that Abarth could get a version of its own. But those rumors have existed for longer than the 4C concept, and will now appear to outlast it as well.

According to the latest reports, Abarth is pitching a project that would see it develop its own sports car. But while the 4C would be priced similarly to a Porsche Boxster or Nissan 370Z, the Abarth would be positioned lower – maybe at the Mazda MX-5 or the new Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S/Toyota GT-86. It would also likely be front-drive, with between 200 and 250 horsepower, and draw its inspiration from the 1968 Abarth Scorpione pictured at right.

Whether it comes to fruition or not remains to be seen – not to mention its potential arrival in North America – but the prospect of another Italian sportscar isnt something wed turn down.

As I type, 150 brightly colored, wrapped and logoed cars, SUVs and anything in between are arriving in Toronto on the first day of the Gumball 3000 cross-country rally. The festive exotic-heavy field of participants lined up Thursday night in New York Citys Times Square in spite of fog, rain and and huge crowds. Tightly packed, the cars filled up two New York City blocks.

With an initial entry fee almost $40,000 (and more for a passengers and support vehicles), its not surprising that the cars entered were mostly high-end. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, a Bugatti Veyron, McLaren, Aston Martin, Maserati, and no less than four Rolls Royces (both Phantoms and Ghosts) had the crowds enthralled. There were even a few classics a 57 Chevy Bel Air with a blown motor was front and center at 43rd Street, a be-flagged and red 1969 Hurst/Olds, and a 1967 Shelby. Rounding out the entrants were a couple less familiar, curious vehicles; Local Motors was there with their 2011 Rally Fighter and the 2012 along for the ride.  Made in the U.S., the Rally Fighter is immediately recognizable, as it looks like no other vehicle on the road yet the crowd-sourced, lightweight vehicle is street-legal. The three-wheeled Morgan with a V-twin engine was tiny in comparison to just about every car there, but drew stares with its retro racing good looks.

Light rain fell away by noon on Friday for the midday start. Crowds pressed in all around as David Hasselhoff waved the flag to start the rally, and the Shelby led the pack down Broadway to 41st Street then turned west. It took 45 minutes speedy by New York traffic standards for all to drive out, the Morgan bringing up the rear.

After a night in Toronto, the rally heads to Indianapolis via Detroit, then on to Kansas City, Santa Fe, and Las Vegas, the final destination being Los Angeles on May 31.
