Mercedes Ener G Force Futuristic Reinterpretation Of The G Class

Edgy, distinctive and loved – so the fans know the Mercedes G-Class, whose distinctive shape remained virtually unchanged since 1979. How do the genes of offroad style icon could prevail in the future, Mercedes-Benz showed the new design study “Ener-G-Force”. What’s in the future definitely: the amazing drive with recycled water.

The Mercedes Ener-G-Force is based on the design of a futuristic police cars for the Los Angeles Design Challenge 2012, which examined the “Highway Patrol Vehicle 2025″. The creators liked the concept so much that they developed from it a civilian variant 1:1 and presented to the wheels. Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz Cars for Mercedes Ener-G-Force: “Modern and cool but it could be a sign of a new beginning for the off-design idiom of Mercedes-Benz.”

Mercedes

Round Cut for the old edge in Mercedes Ener-G-Force

The model of the Mercedes Ener-G-Force is based on the distinctive G-Class, however, shows a radical reinterpretation of this classic. Important genes such proportions and elements designed the makers completely new and modern in a clean design for the future. The Mercedes Ener-G-Force shows a similar silhouette as the current “G”, but with a high shoulder line and smaller windows. It was indeed the clear design of the G-Class, but the surfaces have been intensively shaped and full of tension. The meticulously designed details clearly indicate that the Mercedes Ener-G-Force is the child of a modern time.

As the G-Class, the Mercedes Ener-G-Force also contributes with a front grille and expressive headlamps included. LEDs in the headlamps, meanwhile, form G-shaped light units. The front turn signals put the makers as a significant element of the G-Class as position lights on the front fenders. Integrated into the roof flashing lights also create immense attention.

Mercedes

Typical for the G-Class as well as the three-part roof window area cite the reason genes of the Mercedes-Benz off-road classic, But that was a clear step forward. This also explain the large wheels with 20-inch wheels will make the Mercedes Ener-G-Force tower high and strong, and offer him the right of way, even when there really is no way.

Also, the utility factor of Mercedes Ener-G-Force plays on a new way, for example the rear bears a striking feature of a laterally slightly offset from the center rear drawer whose cover accommodates the typical look of the spare wheel holder of the classic G-Class. This wind-up toolbox can contain various types of equipment that are thus quickly accessible without having to open the complete tailgate must.

Mercedes

RECYCLES Waser instead of gasoline

The Mercedes Ener-G-Force takes on recycled water in tanks on the roof and passes it to the so-called “Hydro-Tech Converter” section that converts this natural, renewable resource into hydrogen for use in fuel cell. The storage units for the electrical energy obtained are easily accessible in the striking side skirts. The lighting of the side shows at the same time by the color changes in operating and charge state of the power pack.

The Mercedes Ener-G-Force emitting only water, has a range of about 800 kilometers and is a real “Green Car”. Four wheel hub motors provide propulsion force that adjusts a high-performance electronics and sensitive to each wheel individually to the respective territory.

Deep Dive Long Live the Audi A2 e tron

Built between 1999 and 2005, the Audi A2 was a car ahead of its time. No, it never made any money, and with only 176,377 units produced, it remained a niche model. Why did it flop? Because customers used to pay a premium for packaging excellence, top aerodynamics (it had a Cd of just 0.25), and amazing efficiency (roughly 94.7 mpg on the European cycle). But despite the commercial crash landing, the narrow and tall alloy-bodied one-box runabout worked wonders for the then-lackluster Audi brand image, helping to establish the Vorsprung durch Technik claim.
Audi A2 E Tron

It was clear from the beginning that the A2 deserved a successor, but exactly what kind of vehicle this MkII version should be remained a mystery for almost seven years. Although Audi showed a (then already 16-month-old) A2 concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Show, the response was not exactly encouraging. As a result, that program was scrapped and a new concept was elected to take on the BMW i3. Its name: Audi e-tron. Its mission: to offer a choice of the uniquely efficient electric and hybrid drivetrains.

A Premium Product

What bugged the Audi A2 from day one was the high price point in combination with the relatively small footprint. However, buyers are no longer averse to premium-priced compacts. Unlike the A2 concept that measured 149.6 inches in length, the latest iteration exceeds the critical 157.5-inch (4000-millimeter) mark by more than a hairs breadth. It is also significantly wider and roomier, it offers a tailor-made specification boasting a miniature air conditioning compressor, lightweight seats, and a low-loss power steering system; yet it retains the classic A2 silhouette. Unlike BMW i, which is about to evolve into a proper model range featuring the already-confirmed i3 and i8 as well as the tentative i5 microvan (2015) and the i2 city car (2016), Audi intends to offer only a single bodystyle of its five-door high-tech eco car. While the base BMW i3 is expected to cost around $46,000, the Audi e-tron will almost certainly be priced in the $51,000 to $55,000 bracket.

To justify this ambitious positioning, it needs to be premium in appearance, content, and engineering. Although the ground-breaking architecture is believed to be based on an aluminum-intensive material mix, the planet-friendly battery-laden ZEV/ULEV newcomer will be quite a bit heavier than the original A2, which weighed between 1973 and 2359 pounds. The A2 concept was loosely based on MQB, the modular transverse engine matrix also used by the new A3 and upcoming seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf. The e-tron takes MQB to a new level known as Mlittraktion-Plattform (MTP). No, multi-traction does not give a choice of front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive. Instead MTP is a highly flexible cradle that can accommodate a battery electric drive (BEV), a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and a range extender (REX). What MTP does not cater to is a conventional gas or diesel engine. Instead, it combines axle, brake, and steering elements from the MQB kit with bespoke zero-emission or low-emission drivetrain modules. The first e-tron to come to market in late 2014 will likely be the BEV powered by a 136-hp motor connected to a 30-kWh battery stack. Next in line is the PHEV, a joint effort between a 1.4-liter 150-hp gas engine, a 109-hp electric motor, and a 10-kWh energy pack. Still under discussion, but not yet confirmed, is the REX that wont use the neat Wankel range extender first seen in the A1 e-tron. For cost and packaging reasons, research and development is toying with a conventional single- or two-cylinder powerplant purchased from a still-nameless supplier.

Together with the German carbon fiber specialist Voith, Audi is working on an advanced ultra-plus vehicle structure that is allegedly easier, quicker, and cheaper to build than the life-drive sandwich conceived by BMW and SGL Carbon. In addition to carbon fiber and aluminum, the ultra-plus concept conceived especially for the e-tron incorporates high-strength steel, magnesium, and various composites. To save weight and ensure optimum rigidity, we can expect innovative bonding techniques such as folding, binding, splicing, and stamp hinging.

Although the e-tron will be more expensive than an A4, it should be significantly more economical to run than the diminutive A1, and it is bound to match or exceed the A3 in terms of performance and driving pleasure. if the green flagship car gets the nod later this year, the e-tron components will soon filter through Audis A, Q, and R model range, be it in the shape of tweaked PHEV applications or by systematically reducing the weight via a flexible material mix.

The 2010 Lincoln MKS

Love the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution but looking for a little more inement and class? Until now, Mitsubishi offered only two variants of the Lancer Evolution sedan including the GSR and MR. Well, meet the new 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring, the range topping Evo with a $40,990 price-tag that moves the hot Mitsubishi sedan into luxury car territory.

The two biggest differences you’ll notice between the GSR, MR and the MR Touring trim-levels are the MR Touring’s standard power glass sunroof and the standard lip spoiler. Power still comes from the 2.0L DOHC MIVEC turbocharged engine making 291-hp with a maximum torque of 300 lb-ft. All that is sent to the wheels through a 6-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission with magnesium steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. The 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring also gets heated leather RECARO front sports seats and heated side mirrors.

Add a $1,999 navigation system package and other accessories (see the list after the jump) and your fully-loaded 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR Touring can hit a whopping price-tag of $52,728.

Here at Gear Patrol’s New York branch, we do our fair share of golfing, no thanks to the tyrannical tee-time scheduling of Patrick Tuttle. The Land Rover we keep parked in midtown Manhattan does a fine job soldiering us to each week’s round. Our only hurdles being either poor traffic conditions or my usal to heed the exact distances the Garmin GPS (and passengers) are screaming at me. “Turn left in 50 yards” isn’t as easy a command as it seems when entering the hell that is the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge (see map after the jump).

Luckily, one of the perks of manning Gear Patrol is getting the chance to test things out in real world environments, and that’s exactly what Lincoln wanted us to do with the near $50,000 Red Candy 2010 Lincoln MKS. We, in typical GP fashion, took it out for a round of golf and put it through its paces in the (c)armageddon we fondly call New York, New York.

The Garage Goes Further with Ford

After being a guest of Ford for the global reveal of the new 2013 Ford Fusion in Detroit this year, Ford called on The Garage again to attend a two-day forum, Go Further with Ford. Along with over 250 bloggers covering auto, fashion, environment, parenting, marketing and a myriad of other subjects, we all descended upon Dearborn, Michigan, where we arrived for dinner at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions and host to Super Bowl XL. We were treated to a speech from none other than Bill Ford, great grandson of Henry Ford. Known for being an industrial environmentalist, Mr. Fords concerns and thoughts on the environment and future of the car would underscore what our next two days would reveal to us.

I had the opportunity to kick a ten yard field goal on Ford Field, and failed miserably. Check the gallery below for a pic of Ford social media chief Scott Monty kick a three-pointer, wearing a suit and dress shoes, no less.

Back to business the next day, we would be taken to four different forums, covering distinct subjects. The first for me was the Age of Accessible Design, and easily my favorite. Faced with a panel of people completely immersed in design, yet in worlds not related to cars, with one exception. Fords chief designer, J Mays was on hand, as well as Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. In addition, an architect and furniture designer were there to offer their point of view.

The discussion was riveting, and Mr. Siriano was entertaining and informative, but offered a different view from automotive design. Mr. Siriano can change trends instantly with his fashion design. With cars, as J Mays pointed out, it is completely different. Instead of next week, Mays is working on designing cars we wont see until five years from now. J Mays was quite candid, emphasizing that each new car design is essentially a multi-million dollar gamble. You dont often think of it from that angle, but it is absolutely true. But the most telling piece of info I got out of the forum was this. J Mays actually spends most of this time in the UK. Mays spoke about the Europeanization of America in terms of design. That large cars are wasteful and status driven. In other words, dont expect another mammoth Ford Excursion super-size SUV. Instead, Mays sees an America that is concerned about fuel cost and efficiency, which have driven the European car market for decades. It is now upon us.

Another forum focused on Eco Psychology. This is the motivation of Bill Ford, and he is intensely focused on being green, even if Fords board of directors are intent on only profits. To that end, Ford is doing extensive research on using natural and organic materials in building their cars. At the same time, Ford is adamant in letting the customer decide, not dictate their options. Be it gas, gas-hybrid, or EV, Ford is allowing the customer to make the choice.

Ford is also keenly aware of the shift in car buyers mentality. As a member of Generation X, mine is the last generation where getting a license to drive was viewed as a rite of passage, as a means to see something greater than what was in the confines of my hometown. Generation Y, or Millenials, see the world far differently from me and generations prior. They are in no hurry to get a license. The internet satiates their need for exploration. They gravitate to urban centers where everything they need is within walking distance. Having graduated to an unstable economy, Gen Y is driven to access to local amenities and superior public transit rather than a car. Still, a car is needed, which explains Fords relationship with Zipcar, a company that offers rental cars in major American cities by the day our hour.

What was most telling was Ford telling us Generation Ys feeling disconnected while on the road-unable to text or web surf. While that sounds pretty pathetic to me, I suppose that is the new reality. Which brings me to the final forum of the day, focusing on technology. Ford, in conjunction with Microsoft has come under some fire about its MyTouch infotainment package, but strides seem to have been made to improve it. Ford seems to recognize that too much tech can overwhelm or confuse a driver. It intrigued me that Ford is currently developing software that reads from the steering wheel a drivers heart rate and sweat to decide if it is not a good time to relay a text message or other info. It is not currently available, but it is cutting edge technology.

Personally, it was a thrill to hear Bill Ford tell all of us we were invited to Dearborn because we were the elite bloggers in our respective fields. As East Coast Editor for The Garage, I sincerely hope you enjoy and are informed by the material we provide here. for you. Our busy day was capped off with a reception at Tech Shop Detroit, followed by a live concert by indie rock/folk band Blind Pilot.

*Editors Note: Ford Motor Company paid for my travel expenses and accommodations, but I was not compensated by Ford monetarily.

The manufacturer did not know all the details about the mechanics of his car. We know that is a hybrid consisting of a conventional engine Atkinson cycle combined with a battery pack very technologically advanced. Without knowing the engine size, known, however, that the combined power of the parties to fuel and electricity as high as 506 horsepower. No hybrid car manufactured by the Japanese manufacturer has never displayed such power.

Mechanicals of BMW Z4 2014

In North America, the German manufacturer always offers a choice of three engines under the hood of the BMW Z4 2014, a 4-cylinder and two 6-cylinder in-line. The base model, the BMW Z4 2014 sDrive28i uses a 4-cylinder engine turbocharged 2-liter dual overhead cam head that develops 240 horsepower at 5500 rpm and produces a torque of 260 lb-ft at 1 250 laps. Two transmissions are available: a manual 6-speed and 8-speed automatic that enable the car to complete the 0 to 100 km / h between 6 and 6.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km / h. Its fuel consumption is 9 liters per 100 kilometers.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 The Biggest Car Mitsubishi!

The Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 is among us since the beginning of the Japanese brand in our northern land, in 2003. Then, in 2008, landed the current generation, derived from the popular Lancer sedan. The wildest hopes were then allowed and perfectly legitimate. Especially since last year, Mitsubishi gave weapons to the most exclusive version of its compact SUV by grafting sophisticated all-wheel drive.

However, we are entitled to ask where does Mitsubishi America. Admittedly, the i-MiEV electric city this, gets all the attention, but the range of the three diamonds manufacturer is fading more and more. Last year, the Galant sedan drew his bow quietly and this year, the Eclipse coupe and convertible and the Endeavor midsize SUV “to overshadow” in turn. Remains the Lancer, fortunately offered in several configurations, Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 and RVR, another compact SUV.

Mitsubishi-Outlander-2012

Good … and DIY Mitsubishi Outlander 2012

The front seats are moderately comfortable, but those of the second row are as hard as the heart of a U.S. Customs. As for the third row, only available with the V6 models, it is more of a blind child and DIY penguin that bench. And in addition, it eliminates the handy storage bin that fits under the floor of the five-seat models. Note that the tailgate opens in two parts, like Land Rover. The lower part and the top flap opens like a hatchback standard. It is convenient and efficient and emits no cracking suspect, even in winter.

Mitsubishi-Outlander-2012

Mechanical side, Mitsubishi uses a 2.4-liter four-cylinder. This engine is not the most smart and twenty or thirty extra horses would not be refused. Especially it has a masted CVT transmission type, one of the major flaws is to briskly climb the towers / minute. So we feel, acceleration frank, the engine trouble, even if this is not the case. Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 has two owners of this engine have told me to be perfectly satisfied with their horse. That’s what counts, right?

Mitsubishi-Outlander-2012

AWD successful Mitsubishi Outlander 2012

In addition to the basic version of which is driven by the front wheels only, all others have a AWD … which varies livery! For the XLS, which sits on top of the range, has the right to AWD S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control), derived from the Lancer Evolution, but … less evolved. This train has an active front differential, which means that the torque is transferred to the front wheel with the most traction. Of course, the transfer is also front to back. The driver can also choose between different types of soils (tarmac and snow) to further improve adhesion. Finally, the method “Lock” can send 50% of the torque to the rear and both front wheels where each receives the same percentage. However, this train does not do hardcore 4×4. But it helps to make the cottage even on bumpy roads pretty. And before I forget, note that it is possible to ride, most of the time, traction mode, which saves gallons of gasoline.

Mitsubishi

The Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 is more love on the road in a showroom. Its chassis is solid and independent suspension therein stow enjoy a good compromise between comfort and roadholding. I would even say that the XLS is sporty! Oh, this is not a Porsche Cayenne, but the Mitsubishi is very fun to drive quickly. Some might find the suspension a little too dry, but they have never bothered me. The steering is precise and support is just perfect … in the XLS. This is somewhat less pronounced in the other versions.

The second generation Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 is here for five years now. In 2010, it was the version with the most opulent of more advanced technologies, but it would mark the Diamond revitalizes the three variants also less expensive.

The Mazda Furai Like Sex on Wheels

You want to talk luxury cars? Okay, my friends and fellow car enthusiasts, then we are going to talk luxury cars.

Specifically, we are going to talk about luxury from a very surprising, very unexpected — by me, at least — source: Mazda.

You cannot take even the shortest glimpse at the concept for the Mazda Furai without admitting that this car is definitely luxurious. It just screams richness with the way it looks. It is an interpretation on the Nagare design, an award winning aesthetic named after a Japanese term known to mean “the embodiment of motion,” as well as “flow.”

Both terms most definitely apply to the Furai concept. This low slung beauty looks both powerful and high class, the kind of thing you expect to see in the next James Bond film.

Last year, Nissan has pushed the power of the V6 twin-turbo 3.8-liter double overhead camshaft head of his GT-R to no less than 545 horsepower at 6,400 revolutions per minute. It is the same torque is increased to 463 lb-ft at 5200 rpm. This year, the power remains the same, but the engineers have refined everything to improve the performance of the car. Was reduced friction and weight, enhanced cooling and somewhat decreased fuel consumption. Engineers have also improved intake systems and exhaust and integrated cooling system for the engine oil.
The gearbox is a robotised manual 6-speed paddle shifters behind the wheel. The Nissan GT-R 2014 also benefits from AWD ATTESA E-TS. The suspension is four-wheel independent and includes Bilstein adjustable DampTronic. Like last year, the GT-R rides on Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT 600 DSST CTT ultra high performance 20-inch blown with nitrogen. Braking is provided by 15-inch discs clamped by Brembo 6-piston front and four-piston rear.

Body and interior of Nissan GT-R 2014

The style of the Nissan GT-R 2014 has not really changed. In terms of materials that Nissan used in the construction of the car, talking of steel, carbon fiber and aluminum. All this is to combine rigidity, precision and lightness. The car has a drag coefficient of 0.26, aided by its various aerodynamic devices.
Inside, we made some small improvements to improve the quality and speed. The manufacturer also offers a set premium interior: red leather, red accents in the instrument panel, steering wheel, door trim, armrests and the gear lever. Despite its large sporting pretensions, we can also say that the Nissan GT-R 2014 is a comfortable car for both. All Nissan GT-R 2014 receive a Bose audio system with 11 speakers and two subwoofers and Bluetooth connectivity.
Nissan GT-R 2014 is still one of the most efficient cars on the market with a 0 to 100 km / h in 3 seconds and a top speed of 315 km / h. It is also a comfortable and luxurious car. This is really an extreme car in every sense of the word.

Challenge on the Next City

gem cars

GEM e2 electric cars – under $10k.

One of our readers points out that cutting carbon footprint at home, getting rid of the car, and emphasizing walkability is all well and good if you’re mobile, but what if walking is a problem? Sit home and mope?

While talking about automated mobility may be a slippery slope in the next city, let’s take a look at what’s out there. Actually we are now beginning to see the production of quite an array of electric vehicles for the next city (and without a $25 billion federal subsidy…).

We have many qualms. Though some are very inexpensive, small, and light, they are certainly not built with sustainable materials in sustainable ways – and none of the manufacturers is touting the cradle-to-cradle nature of their production (recycled, recylable, renewable) – but it strikes us as better than a Hummer, by some margin.

smart car electric

Electric Smart car. Just another car in a smaller package, or a new way of thinking? $35k.

Our favorites are the littlest, the lightest, and smallest. Kind of like golf carts that are enclosed. These are the ones that allow for local urban mobility without pretending that we can commute for two hours one-way, or make a weekend run from DC to Boston. For that, in the next city, we’ll need something else – not cars – like trains. If the next city is to be about people, and local life, and neighborhoods, and sustainability, and not cars and all their attendant destruction, then thinking really small seems like the only way at all.

start lab open street

Startlab’s Open Street model. A bit more than $22k.

There is one available soon, supposedly, called the Tesla. Hard to suppress a laugh at that name… Anyway, the manufacturers claim over 200 miles between charges and a top speed of 125 mph. Cost is north of $110 grand. This sounds more like substitution than rethinking – greenwashing if you will. Here we can see what we can do, but not necessarily what we should do.

Tesla electric cars

Tesla: 0 to 60 in just over 3 seconds, top speed 125 mph.

Anyway, dear reader, there are options for those with mobility challenges, options that permit participation in the next urban life without pumping breathtaking amounts of carbon into the air. In the end though, these little electric devices need to be coupled with a new way of making our communities – destinations within your neighborhood that are just a few blocks away, not across town or out in the suburbs. For many, even city dwellers in most cities in this country, walking a half mile or a mile doesn’t get you to the garlic you need, or the trattoria where you want to be. This must be the highest priority as we reshape the places where we live and work. Mr. Kamen, we need a two-door Segway with wipers and a heater, please.

Volvo S80 2012 Eternity Is Long Especially Towards The End

It is with this phrase quite suave, attributed to American filmmaker Woody Allen, the start of our account of the Volvo S80 2012. Now completely decommissioned technically its immediate rivals are evolving, the great Swedish sedan has stalled for years and lost today in almost complete anonymity.
The sales figures show, the Volvo S80 2012 is in freefall, and nothing suggests that the changes in this model for 2012 will be sufficient to turn the tide. In fact, these changes are limited to details of presentation and integration of security systems developed for the newer Volvo models. Thus, the Volvo S80 2012 Executive announces version, with the addition of leather on the dashboard and on the inner panels of the doors, which is a first for the brand. Functions of ventilation and massage were added to the front seats, carpets are thicker and can be ordered with an optional refrigerator located at the rear of the cabin as well as two Swedish crystal glasses.
Volvo S80 2012

Same time, same station …Volvo S80 2012

In terms of dynamics, nothing has changed on the Volvo S80 2012 continues to offer a sanitized driving to the extreme because of the intervention of highly authoritarian system stability control. In fact, it goes into action as soon as the driver turns his head to operate a little bit the performance potential of the car. In addition, the Volvo S80 2012 AWD T6 prioritizes the distribution of traction to the front wheels during normal driving in a proportion of 95%, while allowing for varying this distribution to deliver traction equal to the front and rear if necessary.
Add to this a direction that provides good tracking in a straight line, but lacks sensitivity curves, and you have the portrait of a luxury car whose conduct is rather numb or sanitized rather than player. As the Volvo S80 2012 weighs more than two tons, it also explains its relative lack of energy and its consumption ratings high, no matter how busy the database engine what the anemic six-cylinder 3.2 liter 235 horsepower or the inline six-cylinder 3.0-liter turbo that develops 300. It is the latter that is best suited to the weight and size of the Volvo S80 2012.
Volvo S80 2012

Plans does it afterwards….Volvo S80 2012

During my visit to the Auto Show in Shanghai in the spring of 2011, I attended the Volvo stand at the unveiling of the Concept Universe, a concept car for more than 5 meters in length, which seems to have been created is to announce the arrival of the possible successor to the Volvo S80 2012, or to reflect the new direction of the Swedish brand in style. Up front, the Concept Universe displays a unique grille for the brand with a series of rectangles with rounded corners on which is located the traditional diagonal band adorned with the badge of the brand.
Volvo S80 2012
According to Peter Horbury, who has returned to head the design department of the Swedish brand after several years at Ford, the style of the Concept Universe is Invoice authentically Scandinavian, without pretensions or fireworks. Following things confused, however in some vagueness, since very little information has been revealed about this concept car, or on the intentions of the brand to go ahead or not with a also large sedan. We therefore expect the following things regarding the possible replacement for the current Volvo S80 2012.

Ford Mustang 2012 The Cavalry Charge Continues

The return of old rivals had the best effect on the Ford Mustang 2012. The pioneer of pony cars has grown steadily since, on all fronts. Not to mention the introduction of modern versions of legendary models out the great history of the American standard. After the return of the 5.0-liter V8 and the appearance of a Shelby GT500 spectacular last year, this year this Ford Boss 302 that has everything to revive the glorious years of the Ford Mustang 2012 Trans Am series Y including a special key that transforms into a beast circuit and Laguna Seca version, which is nothing less than a race car that can register.

2012-mustang-ford

Ford does not stop in so good way and this year launched a modern version of the Boss 302, a sports car without compromise created in 1969 to allow for the inclusion of the famous Mustang Trans Am series will face She was especially Camaro Z28, Chevrolet created by the same purpose and the same spirit. Both versions were powered by very sophisticated V8 engines with a cylinder respected the limit of 305 cubic inches (5 liters) imposed in this series. Hence the term 302 for the 4.9 liter engine of the first Boss that Jacques Duval presented as “a loose race car” in the 1970 edition of the Guide of the car.

For road or circuit Ford Mustang 2012

In short, the new Boss 302 is a version of the GT coupe that engineers revised or modified virtually all components to improve both performance and handling. Result: Ford Mustang 2012 with 4.9 liter naturally aspirated V8 produces 444 horsepower at 7500 rpm / min, a high speed for a V8 of that size. This is possible thanks to an intake manifold and camshafts as well as a different exhaust tips, two to four exhale on the sides of the car. The suspension is firmer and lowers the vehicle body from 11 mm to 1 mm and the front to the rear. Shocks and struts are set over five floors with a screwdriver depending on whether you ride on the road or on a circuit that driver. This Ford Mustang 2012 for diehard also benefits from alloy wheels are lighter and more powerful Brembo brakes.

The other thoroughbred always pawing Ford Mustang 2012

The Shelby GT500 last year became the most powerful Ford Mustang 2012 ever produced. Its 550 horsepower V8 compressed, derived from the Ford GT was produced in 2005 and 2006, consumes less than its predecessor, but it is mostly lighter than 46 pounds thanks to an engine block of aluminum. This important relief height front does wonders for handling.

In these times of economic uncertainty and restrictions, where electric cars and the like in the news almost daily, the presence of American cut as exceptional as the Mustang Boss 302 and Shelby GT500 in the range from the same manufacturer is rather the phenomenon. Congratulations to Ford let the deep passion of its engineers to freely express themselves as his proudest steeds. All the cars will be even better, the wisest of compact cars the most innovative green.

Dodge Adds Charger AWD Sport to the Family

When you think of the Dodge Charger. what comes to mind? A big, modern muscle car perfect for families? Visions of smokey burnouts once the kids are dropped off at school? How about a perfect all-weather car? No? Well, Dodge wants that perception to change. While the general perception of the Charger is all about aggressive styling and available HEMI V-8 power, the Charger has been available with all-wheel drive, but this feature seems to have flown under the radar. What better way to highlight the Chargers all-weather capabilities than to come out with a special model all about all-wheel drive?

Orders are being taken now, but expect January 2013 availability for the Dodge Charger AWD Sport. Consider the AWD Sport as a limited edition option package, as Dodge only intends to build Charger AWD Sports for about three months. The AWD Sport is based on the V-6 Charger SXT and HEMI V-8 Charger R/T trims. As for cost, Dodge is charging $1,395USD for the AWD Sport package, and $1,195 on R/T models.

So, what do you get for the money? The Charger AWD Sport distinguishes itself with a gloss black grille, gloss black painted 19 alloys, and a rear spoiler. Inside, buyers are also treated to sport seats and Chryslers premium Beats Audio. The V-6 Charger AWD Sport gets a slight boost in power. The well-received 3.6L V-6 now boasts 300hp, thanks to a sport tuned dual exhaust and cold air induction system. The 370hp 5.7L V-8 is unchanged. The Garage sampled a 2012 Dodge Charger R/T which we thoroughly enjoyed. For 2013, both V-6 and V-8 Chargers feature an 8-speed automatic, as opposed to the 5-speed in our test car. Unique to the AWD Sport are paddle shifters and a Sport mode that will bang out quicker shifts and will hold revs higher in each gear. Kudos to Dodge for the shift paddles made from diecast metal instead of plastic. No word from Dodge, but I expect this to be available in other Chargers once the AWD Sport run is over.

But again, the emphasis here is on the Chargers all-wheel drive capability, and to break the perception this is strictly a rear wheel drive brute. Dodge is quick to point out their active transfer case and front axle disconnect technology, where the front wheels have no power unless needed to improve fuel economy. Will it work? Hard to say, but I cant blame Dodge for wanting to raise awareness that the Charger is available with all-wheel drive. Whether we see more Chargers rolling up to ski resorts in Stowe, Vermont, or Aspen, Colorado remains to be seen.

Lexus LFA 2012 The Ghost Car

Despite the evocative title of this article, I assure you that the Lexus LFA 2012 really exist, since I am part of a select group of automotive journalists who had the opportunity to drive it … It happened on the circuit Homestead, Florida, where I had the chance to drive two copies of the Lexus performance absolutely insane.

If I call the Lexus LFA 2012 ghost car is due to the fact that production is limited to only 500 copies. These will be produced during model years 2011 and 2012 at the Motomachi plant in Japan in 1540 by a team of technicians at the rate of one car per day. Of these, ten cars will be allocated to the Canadian market with five year. It’s a safe bet that some purchasers, whether here or elsewhere, ever lead or very little of their LF-A, preferring to keep the garage as an investment. All this means that if you ever see a Lexus LFA 2012 on the roads of Quebec, you must say it’s your lucky day and run out and buy a lottery ticket …

Lexus-LFA-2012

High tech Lexus LFA 2012

On a technical level, the Lexus LFA 2012 is at the forefront with its frame made of 65% carbon fiber and 35% aluminum. This configuration was adopted under development, the first prototype was made on a frame all aluminum to reduce the weight of the car. Moreover, the choice of carbon fiber as raw material for the production of chassis Lexus LFA 2012 Toyota brought to its origins … Indeed, the brand that would one day become a giant car built, its beginnings, textile weaving machines. Ironically, Toyota’s engineers have developed a new machine circular loom and weave carbon fiber required to manufacture many chassis components of the LF-A.

2012-Lexus-LFA

The interior of the Lexus LFA 2012 is a mixture of high tech and traditional luxury touches that are unique to the brand. Thus, the Lexus LFA 2012 does not have a block of conventional instruments, but rather a screen that reproduces images the tachometer which is found and presented in different ways depending on the selection by the driver of a four driving modes, or “automatic”, “Normal”, “Sport” and “wet.” Hugging sports seats are covered with a high quality leather and the Lexus LFA 2012 is also equipped as standard with a powerful sound system and a navigation system.

Sound of hell …Lexus LFA 2012

Right out of the wells, the Lexus LFA 2012 Announces exceptional test. The 552 horsepower speak with authority and V10 rises quickly regime en route to its limit of revolutions of 9000 revolutions / minute with that scream own the LF-A. I should mention that during my career I have had the opportunity to drive several Ferrari, Lamborghini and other high caliber sporting the new Audi R8 GT, but none of these cars come to emulate the sound of an F1 engine as faithfully as the Lexus LFA 2012. Is that the engineers have paid particular attention to this aspect in the development of refining engine and exhaust passages while integrating with membranes between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment, just to enhance the listening experience. At 9000 revolutions / minute, the sound of the V10 screaming,

The box is a manual six-speed Aisin, which is electronically controlled by bearings located on the steering column. The left, which controls the downshift requires a little more effort than the right, which controls the upshift. Password box speeds of 200 milliseconds, when the “sport” mode is selected. It is a little slow, considering the fact that Ferrari provides a dwell time of 60 milliseconds for the new 458 Italia. This is one of the weak points of the Lexus LFA 2012, the other being the electric power steering could provide more feedback.

Tour de force on a technical level, the Lexus LFA 2012 is a car anthology. Its only problem is its stratospheric price, especially when the Lexus LFA 2012 is compared to the Nissan GT-R, whose performances are not all equal to those of the Lexus, but the price is six times less …
