2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Overview
Jeep has just released images of its 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, which will receive something of a makeover for the new model year – particularly to its interior. The rugged Wrangler boasts a completely new interior for its 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara model year, designed to be considerably more upscale than interiors in previous Wranglers. In this 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4 door, gone is Jeep’s old four-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Chrysler PT Cruiser, replaced instead by a simple three-spoke design with available steering wheel audio controls from Jeep’s Grand Cherokee.
Old rotary climate control dials have been upgraded to newer, more stylish units, and the entire center console has been redesigned to provide a look that’s less utility and more style, with some curves added to the once-linear design of this new 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Interior door panels were also reshaped to provide more supportive armrests and a more elegant look to the cabin of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara.
None of the changes to the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara (also in other variants of the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler’s model year) involve its capability, on- or off-road. The 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara is returning unchanged with its 3.8-liter V-6 with 202 horsepower and 237 pound-feet of torque, backed by either a six-speed manual or four-speed automatic. Both it and the four-door 2011 Wrangler Unlimited are available with both transmissions. Jeep fans will note that the brand’s console-mounted window switches remain positioned between the air-conditioning vents on the dash of 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Also unchanged in the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara are the four-wheel drive selector, and the gear selector, both still positioned in the center console. On the exterior, the Wrangler’s biggest update for 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara comes in the form of a body-colored hardtop – but only for the upscale Sahara models. Previously, the Wrangler’s hardtop had been dark gray plastic, which remains the top’s color on lower-end models. Other changes to the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara colors are minor and include five new colors: Detonator Yellow, Deep Cherry Red, Sahara Tan, Cosmos Blue, and Bright White.
The 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara is also surprisingly fun to drive around the city. Although certainly tippy through turns and short on grip, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara provides a commendable amount of feedback through its wheel. The biggest dynamic downfall of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara is its thirsty V6, which is gutless both on the highway and when trying to accelerate quickly.
