US South Korean Agreement Looks to Expand Trade

Signed in February of 2011 a new agreement with South Korea could mean an increase in United States automotive jobs as well as vehicles being exported by the Big Three to Korea. This new deal seeks to reduce the disparity between the number of Korean cars being sold in the United States and the lack of US penetration into the Korean Market.

Reducing non-tariff barriers as well as reducing taxes is hoped to increase the number of US made vehicles to South Korea. Hopefully this new agreement can strengthen the relationship between the US and South Korean automotive sectors.

Korean President Lee Myung Bak believes that this agreement will be a force for stability in Northeast Asia.
